Lifestyle Product Photography for Custom Children’s Books (Brand Shoot for Luna Books US)
Luna approached this shoot with a clear goal: to create a set of lifestyle images that could support a wide range of personalized children’s books across their brand.
Because each book is customized—with different names, stories, and covers—the imagery needed to feel warm, real, and engaging, while also remaining flexible enough to work across multiple designs.
The Challenge
Photographing personalized products comes with a unique challenge. Traditional lifestyle photography often locks a product into a single story or visual moment. But for Luna Books, the images needed to:
Work across multiple book variations
Allow space for different names and page designs
Feel natural and child-led rather than overly styled
Translate seamlessly across e-commerce and social platforms
The goal wasn’t just to create beautiful images—it was to create usable, scalable content.
The Approach
To solve this, the shoot was designed with both creativity and flexibility in mind.
A soft, neutral environment was chosen to keep the focus on the product while maintaining a warm, inviting feel. Overhead compositions allowed for clean layouts that could easily accommodate design overlays and text placement.
Working with a child model, the direction was intentionally minimal. Instead of heavily posed moments, the focus was on natural interaction—letting the child explore the book in a way that felt authentic and relatable.
Key considerations included:
Overhead angles for maximum layout flexibility
Blank book pages to support customizable designs
Neutral tones to ensure consistency across branding
Organic movement and interaction for emotional connection
The Result
The final set of images gives Luna Books a versatile library of content that can be used across their website, social media, and marketing materials.
Each image is designed to scale—supporting multiple versions of the product without needing a full reshoot for every variation.
At the same time, the imagery maintains a soft, emotional quality that reflects the heart of the brand: storytelling, connection, and childhood imagination.
This type of lifestyle product photography is especially valuable for brands offering customizable or evolving products, where flexibility is just as important as visual appeal.
